Kansas City Royals Name Mike Moustakas George Brett Hitter Of The Year

It's a big week for Royals minor leaguer Mike Moustakas. He was named the Texas League Player of the Year and then later that night drove in an Omaha record 11 runs.

Now the Royals have named him their George Brett Hitter of the Year.

Pitcher John Lamb won their Paul Splittorff Pitcher of the Year award.

Here are the other awards for the Royals farm system:

Royals Will See Jeff Francouer After All

Back around the MLB trade deadline at the end of July, Jeff Francouer was a name that was popping up in connection to the Kansas City Royals. Scouts had checked out the New York Mets at the time lending to more speculation that Francouer would be part of a deadline deal.

Of course we know now that that never happened.

But the Royals will see Francouer the day after a trade. He's not coming to Kansas City, though.

Francouer was traded to the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.

Who plays the Rangers on Wednesday night? The Royals.

Camouflage Jerseys Coming For The Mizzou, Texas Tech Game

Mizzou and Texas Tech will be tweaking their jerseys for their Nov. 6 matchup in Lubbock, TX, according to ESPN's Uni Watch blog.

When Missouri and Texas Tech play in Lubbock on Nov. 6, they'll wear camouflage-trimmed jerseys to support the Wounded Warrior Project.

It's hard to beat some of the uniforms Mizzou comes out with but this one has the potential to be the best.

Doesn't Sound Like The Royals Will Be Calling Up Mike Moustakas

As Brian Goodman pointed out on Wednesday morning, the Kansas City Royals won't be calling up Mike Moustakas this September (via the Kansas City Star):

“You could certainly make a case that it’s important for him to come up here in September, get acclimated and see what the major leagues are about,” Moore continued. “Is that prudent now? It’s not. He’s still going to get the same opportunity in spring training that he would have had in 2011 whether he’s a September call-up or not.”

As Goodman pointed out, the Royals value international play and Moustakas isn't eligible to be on Team USA for the Pan-Am games if he's on the 40-man roster.

So even though he's been putting up ridiculous numbers -- enough to name him the Texas League player of the year -- it doesn't sound like he'll be in a Royals uniform this month.
