MLB Commissioner Bud Selig made it official announcing Kansas City would be hosting the 2012 All-Star Game.
Selig made the announcement at Kauffman Stadium Wednesday night.
"The competition among our 30 clubs to play host to an all-star game has become incredibly competitive in recent years," Selig said.
As SB Nation's Royals Review suggested, it's more like the Royals bought this All-Star Game with the renovation done to Kauffman stadium.
Also in attendance was Mayor Mark Funkhouser (he received the least amount of applause) and Royals Hall of Famer John Mayberry.
