2010 NBA Draft: Bill Self Comments On Sherron Collins

Former Kansas Jayhawks guard Sherron Collins was once thought to be a late second round pick.

Last night, he went undrafted.

Jayhawks coach Bill Self commented on Collins' future.

“I feel for Sherron, but certainly, it’s not lost,” Self said. “He’s put himself in a situation where he’s going to have to work harder and be more disciplined than he ever has been to show everybody they made a mistake."

If I had to guess, Collins' career will be short-lived if it's ever revived. Undrafted players in the NBA don't stick around very often.

Several big time players in the league weren’t drafted, either. Anything can happen. He just needs to get in the right situation where a team will let him develop instead of just wasting away on the bench. If it’s true that Felton won’t be re-signing with the Bobcats, there is a chance that they’ll go with DJ Augustine as PG1 and an opening at PG2. I’m guessing they’d prefer a veteran for that position to help with Augustine’s development (like how Chauncey has already clearly helped Ty Lawson adapt to the pro game).

But, he’ll be seen this way, and he’ll have the ball in his hands a lot as the point guard, which will give him chances to show what he can do. Has anyone heard anything about Clemente? He’s gotta at least be worth a look, right? Carlos Arroyo has had a pretty successful stint in the league.
