Tree Planted In Dan Quisenberry's Memory Mowed Down By Mistake

Stay connected for news and updates

Down by I-70 and I-435 -- the intersection near Kauffman stadium -- there was a tree planted in memory of the late Dan Quisenberry, former Royals pitcher, who died in 1998 after a battle with cancer.

Construction crews are widening sections of the highway and unknowingly tore it down, according to the Kansas City Star.

“It is our intent to plant a new tree and rededicate a memorial to Dan Quisenberry,” Beth Wright, district engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation said. “We regret very much that it happened.”

Too bad but it was an honest mistake.
