Royals Win Series In Seattle For First Time Since 2002

Stay connected for news and updates

It was a strange one but the Royals pulled out the victory.

Zack Greinke, winner of two in a row now, got the win while Joakim Soria came in for the save.

Wilson Betemit once again had a solid day with three hits and the go-ahead run in the eighth. Greinke was solid through seven giving up just one run. Reliever Blake Wood gave up one run in the eighth.

"The guys are picking each other up in situations," said Royals manager Ned Yost. "The pitching's holding the offense down, our offense is scoring enough runs for us to win ball games, so it's a nice team affair all the way around."

Depending on the severity, the story of the day could be Jose Guillen's injury. He came up lame, clutching his hamstring while grounding into a double play.

He left the game.

No word yet on Guillen's injury or what it might mean.

For the Royals, that makes four series' wins in a row.
