Kansas City Chiefs LB Cameron Sheffield took a helmet-to-helmet hit and was knocked to the ground with a neck injury on Friday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. Sheffield laid motionless on the field for several minutes before he was loaded onto a stretcher and carted off the field.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that Sheffield's condition has "improved dramatically" over the night.
Though more tests need to be conducted, the indication for now is that Sheffield will be fine.
This is outstanding news if accurate.
Last week, Chiefs defensive back Maurice Leggett laid in a similar condition after a hard hit against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was also loaded onto a stretcher and carted off the field but he's made a terrific comeback and was able to watch practice last week.
