The Royals were understandably pleased to get Tejeda back.
Tejeda had a strained tendon at the end of July.
"It’s been there for a little while," Texeira said, "but I was just trying to stick it out until the end of the season. It’s gotten worse as I’ve gone along."
Texeira's disabled list stint is retroactive to Saturday. He went down with a strained elbow.
Here's Yost on Texeira's DL stint:
"Texeira’s had issues with this off and on," Yost said. "Before it was forearm tightness. We’d give him two or three days (off), and it would generally go away. This time, it was a little more extensive. It was his forearm and down into his elbow. It’s something where I think he’d be ready to pitch in another week or so. But with the state of our bullpen here lately, the best thing to do was to go ahead and protect him and get another arm in here."
