Mizzou RB Derrick Washington Won't Get His Breakout Year

Stay connected for news and updates

It was supposed to be Derrick Washington's big year at Mizzou. He was a senior, a team captain and primed for a rebound season in 2010.

Unfortunately, that won't happen now that he's been suspended permanently by Mizzou.

He had a breakout year in 2008. As a sophomore, he rushed for 1,036 yards and 5.9 yards per carry with 17 touchdowns. He was expected to extend those numbers in 2009 but an injury hampered him. He had just 865 yards (with more carries) and 10 touchdowns.

This was supposed to be the year he put it all together with the Mizzou offense.

Unfortunately for Mizzou, and for Washington, that won't be happening.
