Kansas City Chiefs safety Jarrad Page has been angling for a trade for over a year.
He's finally gotten his wish.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Page was traded to the Patriots.
Page joins GM Scott Pioli's former team.
It's the second trade between the Pioli-led Chiefs and the Patriots.
The biggest roster question mark was made a bit more clear when it was announced that Kansas City Chiefs safety Jarrad Page would sign his restricted free agent tender. This not only brings him to the Chiefs officially, counting against the roster spots available, but also places him shoulder-to-shoulder alongside his teammates. In other words, here's where the distraction and chemistry questions come in.
His agent recently requested a trade, and Jason La Canfora just sent out a tweet saying, "Undecided about when he will report and still seeking a trade." In other words, the entire situation is in flux for now and this holiday weekend will bring a lot more clarity to a murky situation. More details to come.
Bill Belichick, Jarrad Page Talk About Patriots, Chiefs Trade
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick made the decision to trade for Chiefs safety Jarrad Page last weekend. It's unclear what the compensation is but likely a late round draft pick.
Belichick said he wasn't too familiar with Page other than knowing he was a good player.
Page meanwhile said he's glad to be part of a winner.
It looks like this could be a steal for Belichick. If Page is happy then he gave up a late round pick for a pretty good player who has started a lot of games early in his career.
When he was happy (prior to Todd Haley's arrival), Page was among the biggest steals in the NFL. He had started every game in his first three years and was seemingly set to start for a long time in Kansas City.
He'll be working on a one-year deal in New England and said he's not worried about a new contract right now.
