The Old Dominion Monarchs gave the Missouri Tigers all they could handle tonight, but Missouri was able to outscore Old Dominion in the second half by nine points to improve to 13-0. Missouri was held in check in the first half as the two teams exchanged leads through the entire first half with Old Dominion leading 35-33 at the half.
Old Dominion came out and extended their lead over Missouri 40-36, but then Missouri went on a 16-4 run to have a seven point lead, and it started to look like they were going to run away with this game. However, Old Dominion regained their focus and made a comeback of their own as Missouri went cold from the field and Old Dominion tied the game at 58 apiece with 5:44 left in the game. Old Dominion even took a 62-60 lead over Missouri with under four minutes left in the game.
Missouri was able to hold off Old Dominion during the last few minutes by making four of their six free throws to preserve the victory to improve to 13-0.
Old Dominion was able to hang around with Missouri as they out rebounded Missouri 35-26 with 16 of those being offensive rebounds to give the Monarchs multiple extra chance opportunities.
Missouri had four players in double figures on the night and was led by Marcus Denmon who had 19 points and forward Ricardo Ratliffe chipped in with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Missouri now moves onto conference play when they face the Oklahoma Sooners on Jan. 3.
