Another coaching spot and head coaching candidate can be crossed off of the list as the Memphis Tigers have found their man in TCU offensive coordinator Justin Fuente. This comes after Larry Porter was fired after gaining only 3 wins in his first two seasons. Fuente is only 35 and brings a good offensive reputation with him.
Phil Stuckenborg writes, "Fuente was chosen over Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain, who was reportedly the leading candidate for the job late Tuesday. McElwain has spent the past four seasons on Nick Saban's staff and impressed the leaders of the search committee during an interview earlier this week in New York."
The Tigers football site also notes that "Fuente joined the TCU staff in 2007 as running backs coach and promoted to co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2009. Came to TCU from Illinois State, where he was an assistant for six seasons, the last three as offensive coordinator."
