Former Jayhawk Aqib Talib Likely to Be Released

With the NFL lockout having recently ended (we think), the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are faced now with the tough decision of what to do with talented cornerback Aqib Talib. The former Kansas Jayhawk has found trouble over the offseason, being charged in Texas with aggravated assault with the deadly weapon.

Despite his on the field talents, Bucs GM Mark Dominik and Head Coach Raheem Morris are now very likely looking at releasing Talib when free agency begins and teams are allowed to make offseason moves. The outside media pressure is not helping ease the tension by any means, as former Tampa Bay teammate Chris Hovan recently spoke with radio station WQYK in Tampa and had this to say about Talib-

"I mean, how many times do you let this guy go off the hook, though?" Hovan said, via NFL.com. "How many times? I mean, how many people does he have to hurt? How many times is he going to get sued? Or how many times is he going to go to jail before you get it right? Who is going to step in? Has Raheem stepped in? I have not seen Raheem step in."

Talib's March arrest is the latest in a long list of trouble with the law for the former 1st-round pick in 2008. Last season Talib was suspended for a game after a charge of assaulting a taxi driver, and being involved in a fight during the summer of 2008 at the NFL rookie symposium.
