Missouri lost its first game of the season in a tough road environment at Kansas State. An uncharacteristically tough day from the floor led the Tigers to a 75-59 defeat.
Mizzou's reign as one of the country's four remaining unbeatens came to an end in ugly fashion in Manhattan, Kan., to the tune of a 75-59 loss.
After allowing 44 first half points, the Tigers looked better on defense in the second half, but the second leading scoring team in the nation still couldn't get anything going on offense, finishing the game shooting 32.7 percent (16-49) from the field.
Marcus Denmon was the only positive player on offense for Missouri, finishing the game with 17 points, but he also shot fairly poorly from the field (5-14 FG, 3-9 3PT).
Kansas State's defense gave Missouri fits, but the Tigers still missed a lot of open shots that they usually make, and they could never climb back in the game.
Missouri was also uncharacteristically careless with the ball against Kansas State. Coming into the game, the Tigers had the second least amount of turnovers per game in the nation (9.2), but they were sloppy on Saturday, finishing the game with 14 turnovers.
The Tigers will have another shot at a road Big 12 win when they travel to Ames, Iowa to face the Iowa State Cyclones (11-3) on Wednesday. Missouri will have to deal with 6-8 Royce White, who leads the Cyclones in points, rebounds, assists and blocks per game.
