The Missouri Tigers women's soccer team came up short on Sunday in a tight battle with conference foe Tennessee in Knoxville.
The Missouri Tigers women's soccer team dropped only its second game of the 2012 season on Sunday afternoon, falling in a tight battle with the Tennessee Lady Vols, 1-0.
The two teams struggled to set up their offenses in the early going, as each squad could only muster one total shot in the first half of action. After a Missouri shot by Haley Krentz drilled the crossbar and narrowly missed hitting the net after the intermission, the Lady Vols then proceeded to break the scoring with a 59th minute goal from Tori Bailey.
Though Bailey's goal would eventually prove to be of the game-winning variety, the Tigers were ripe with chances to knot the game at one goal apiece down the stretch. In addition to a second unfortunate crossbar shot from the foot of Dominque Richardson that sailed over the goal in the 85th minute, Missouri also was forced to watch an 86th minute goal be overruled due to an offsides call.
Now 10-2 overall with seven SEC games remaining in the regular season, the Tigers will stay at home to host the Kentucky Wildcats on Friday at 6 p.m. CT.
