Wayne Selden signing caused Roddy Peters to dismiss Kansas basketball

Derick E. Hingle-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

High school point guard Roddy Peters opts for Maryland, with Wayne Selden committing cited as the reason Peters disregarded Kansas' offer.

It seems Kansas was never Roddy Peters' dream school. The senior point guard for Suitland High School in Maryland opted to stay a little closer to home, declaring he will become a Maryland Terrapin in the fall of 2013. Peters' high school coach, George McClure, informed SNY.tv that the reason his player turned down Kansas was the Jayhawks signing of Tilton, New Hampshire product Wayne Selden. Though no further details were given by McClure, it can be presumed that Peters did not want to compete for playing time in the backcourt with the 6'5" shooting guard.

McClure continued on about the decision, "there's no doubt that Maryland was his dream school at the end and that's what showed up at the end." Peters is ranked No. 9 by Rivals for point guards in the 2013 class. Selden is the No. 7 shooting guard, and ranks 16 spots higher (23rd overall) than Peters (39th).
