Missouri vs. Tennessee: Tigers and Volunteers tied after 1st quarter, 7-7

Missouri was thoroughly dominated by Tennessee in the opening quarter, but Jimmie Hunt's kickoff return for a touchdown has kept the Tigers in the game.

The Missouri Tigers and Tennessee Volunteers have played to a 7-7 tie after the opening quarter of play in Knoxville, Tenn. Missouri has been able to keep pace despite being outgained, 242 total yards to 26.

Tennessee wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson's 5-yard touchdown run got the Vols on the board first, with just over four minutes remaining in the quarter. The Vols' lead wouldn't last for long, as Mizzou's Jimmie Hunt returned the ensuing kickoff 87 yards for the equalizing score.

Tigers' quarterback James Franklin struggled mightily in the opening stanza, completing just one of six passes for seven yards while throwing an interception. Three Missouri rushers combined to gain just 19 yards on the ground.

Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray was 14-of-19 for 174 yards in the quarter, while Patterson completed a 28-yard pass one play before his touchdown run. Vols' wide receiver Justin Hunter is closing in on the century mark already, hauling in four passes for 96 yards.
