Chiefs vs. Chargers 2012: Mistakes still haunt Kansas City

Stephen Dunn

The Chiefs committed only a few big turnovers on Thursday against the San Diego Chargers. Unfortunately, the Chargers still made the most of those turnovers.

Following yet another loss, this time a 31-13 dropped result to the San Diego Chargers on Thursday Night Football, the Kansas City Chiefs suffered from the same problems that have plagued them all season. They still have yet to hold a lead in a game. The defense is leaky, and allowed the Chargers to put points on the board late.

The offense had yet another sub-par game as well, including the play of quarterback Matt Cassel. As pointed out by Chiefs blog Arrowhead Pride, the team was actually able to keep the mistakes on the offense down to a lower number than usual against the Chargers -- but even then, it didn't seem to have much of an effect on things as they still capitalized to the fullest:

Looking back at the KC Chiefs loss to the Chargers on Thursday, Matt Cassel didn't play that bad. Only one interception and one fumble....except both of those went for touchdowns by the Chargers.

So, not an ideal night.

Kansas City has a prolonged 11-day break following their loss to the Chargers, taking the field next in a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in their second straight prime-time game, Nov. 12 on Monday Night Football.
