2012 NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship: Kansas earns No. 11 seed

The Kansas Jayhawks earned the No. 11 seed in the 2012 NCAA Women's Volleyball tournament, and will host Cleveland State in the tournament's opening round.

The Kansas Jayhawks women's volleyball team was one of five Big 12 schools to earn a berth in the 2012 NCAA Championship Field, joining Texas, Iowa State, Kansas State and Oklahoma.

The Jayhawks earned the No. 11 seed in the 64-team tournament, which begins on Friday, Nov. 30 and concludes on Saturday, Dec. 1. Kansas will take on Cleveland State on Nov. 30, as they prepare for a deep run into the tournament.

Kansas' opening contest will be held in Lawrence, Kan., at the Allen Field House.

The Longhorns earned the highest seed among Big 12 schools, ranked No. 3 overall in the tournament. Also from the Big 12, Texas will take on Colgate on Nov. 29 in the first round of play and Kansas State will meet the University of Northern Iowa in the first round. Northern Iowa finished the season 24-9, while K-State finished 21-8.

Penn State earned the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, after finishing the regular season with a 29-2 record.
