Sporting Kansas City's Jimmy Nielsen was awarded the 2012 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year. Nielsen started the All-Star Game and led the league with 15 shutouts and 18 victories. He also set club records for minutes played (3,060), games started (34) and goals against average in a season (0.79). He responded to the honor:
