NBA All-Star Game: Kevin Durant Says Winning MVP Is Childhood Dream

First he was named mid-season MVP by ESPN. Then he was named All-Star Game MVP last night. The only thing left is for Kevin Durant to win the real MVP award at the end of the 2011-12 NBA season. The Oklahoma City Thunder star has simply been that dominant in any contest he enters. Heck, he even placed among the top finalists in the three-point competition that he subbed in for Joe Johnson on Saturday.

Durant scored 36 points and grabbed 7 rebounds last night to help the Western Conference to a 152-149 victory over the Eastern Conference.

"It's just exciting to be named (an) All-Star, but to step it up another level and become MVP, it's only something as a kid you dream about," Durant said. "Coming from where I come from, I didn't think I would be here. Everything is just a blessing to me."

"This is his first time of probably many," Brooks said of the MVP award. "I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to coach him. The guy, he does a lot of things well. ... He just comes in and does his work."
