Missouri To Forfeit $12.4 Million In Its Exit From The Big 12

The price of Missouri’s departure from the Big 12 Conference is now known, in addition to the exit fee for Texas A&M. Both schools are breaking their ties with the Big 12 to become members of the Southeaster Conference, effective July 1 this year.

It was reported Tuesday that Texas A&M would be required to forfeit an estimated $12.3 million from the revenue distribution projected from the conference for 2012. It was learned late Tuesday that a similar settlement had been reached with the University of Missouri-Columbia.

The exit penalties for both schools are based on expected distributions this year from revenue received from football television contracts, plus bowl games and NCAA Torunament appearances.
