McDonald's All-American Game 2012: West Roster Includes MIssouri Interest Devonta Pollard

The East roster of the 2012 McDonald’s All-American Game features one local recruit for Kansas in Perry Ellis, a power forward who will be an impact player for the Jayhawks. But Missouri is also chasing a player currently undecided for the West roster in Devonta Pollard, bringing local interest to the West roster as well.

The 6-7 small forward from Mississippi gets high marks from ESPN’s scouting services. They summarize his game with the following: “There is no questioning this guys upside or love to play the game. Every time he steps on the floor you know you get his best. He has the kind of athleticism and length to be a major contributor at the next level, not to mention great bloodlines from his mother who was a tremendous player.”

The McDonald's All-American Game brings some of the best high school basketball players from around the country together to play against each other in front of a national audience. Perry Ellis: Kansas Basketball Inks Elite 2012 Recruit

The Kansas Jayhawks signed Perry Ellis, one of the most decorated men's basketball players to ever come out of the state, on Wednesday, national signing day for the high school class of 2012.

Ellis, a 6'8 220 forward out of Wichita, is ranked No. 27 in the country by CBS Sports.

In highlight tapes, he shows a great skill-set and feel for the game for a player his size, and he is expected to swing between both forward positions for Bill Self. Kentucky and Kansas State also recruited him strongly.

The only other player expected to sign today is Zach Peters, a 6'9 forward out of Fort Worth, TX.

With a roster loaded with upperclassmen and only two four-star freshmen coming in this season, Self still has room to bring in additional players in the class of 2012, especially with Big 12 rivals Texas and Baylor reeling in top 10 classes of their own.
