We’re still one year away from the major WNBA buzz of Angel Goodrich’s career given that the Kansas basketball star isn’t heading to the pros just yet. However, another local star in Missouri State’s Casey Garrison is hoping to hear her name called sometime during today’s 2012 WNBA Draft. As the second leading scorer in school history, she’s got the impressive numbers and tape to hold such hopes despite the lack of buzz.
"I’ve never really watched any draft," Garrison told the Springfield News-Leader. "The only time I watched the NFL draft was with (boyfriend) Clay Harbor. I never watch the WNBA draft, but this year I might because it could mean something this year."
The 6-0 guard is uncertain where she might be taken in the three round draft. With 12 WNBA teams, only 36 total names will be called. However, Joel Welser believes she’s a second round talent and projects as much over at College Sports Madness:
There is not much Garrison cannot do. The 6-0 guard is a consistent and efficient scorer inside and out. She may not take a ton of three-pointers, but she does take smart shots and connects on a good percentage of her attempts. Her ability to hit the glass, find her teammates and play stellar defense makes her one of the best all-around players in this class and a possible second round selection in the 2012 WNBA Draft.
