VIDEO: Bruce Chen Has 10 Pickoff Attempts During One At-Bat

While Bruce Chen has been an effective veteran for the Kansas City Royals the last few seasons, he's hardly known as the kind of pitcher who's going to run the table through all nine innings. He's typically good for five or six and then the bullpen must come in and do their work. GIven how Chen was roughed up yesterday against the Twins, perhaps he might want to keep from wasting 10 pitches of a limited arm on picking off a player.

For those who missed the Twins-Royals game yesterday, Chen had fun playing catch with Eric Hosmer at first while keeping tabs on Denard Span. The Check out the incredible 10 pickoff attempts for one runner:

Royals-Twins Game Postponed, Rescheduled For June 30

The Kansas City Royals' bullpen had been hurting. After being overworked in the series against the Cleveland Indians, Everett Teaford's short outing last night extended the team's pitching staff to its tipping point. Ned Yost said before today's second game against the Minnesota Twins that he was hoping for help from Mother Nature and apparently his prayers worked.

Brucen Chen was slated to take on Jason Marquis in a match-up of veteran pitchers. Now the Royals have to hope that the day off doesn't hurt the team's newfound positive momentum. For the Twins, they've lost six in a row, so the day off could serve them well.

The series against the Twins continues tomorrow afternoon at 1:10pm ET.

Royals Pick Up Third Win In A Row, Down Minnesota Twins 7-6

We're out of the basement!

The Kansas City Royals used some clutch hitting to pick up their third consecutive win as the Royals moved to 6-14 with a 7-6 road victory over the Minnesota Twins. As we all probably know, all six Royals victories have come away from Kauffman Stadium this season.

After the Twins three times came back to tie the game or take the lead after the Royals had an edge, Mike Moustakas and Alcides Escobar each had RBI singles in the top of the 8th inning to give us the lead for good.

Alex Gordon had what is likely his greatest game of the season thus far, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two walks. In the first inning he collected two RBI on a two-run home run off Minnesota starter Carl Pavano.

Billy Butler also continued his recent hot streak with two hits and three RBI. He also hit a two-run home run in the third inning off of Pavano.

Royals spot starter Everett Teaford went four innings for Kansas City, allowing four runs on eight hits. 46 of his 75 pitches went for strikes as he also walked two and struck out one.

Jose Mijares earned the win and improved to 1-1, while Jonathan Broxton pitched a perfect bottom of the ninth for his third save.

Royals Vs. Twins: Kansas City Line-Up Announced

The Kansas City Royals might have to rely on the line-up tonight a bit more since Everett Teaford is on the mound making a spot start in the hopes that he can help in a pinch as the Royals open up a series against the Minnesota Twins. The Royals are on a nice little roll with two wins in a row. That might not sound like much but anything sounds great against the backdrop of a 12-game losing streak, which just ended before the Royals starting winning against the Cleveland Indians. As they head out tonight, here KC's announced batting order.

Kansas City Royals Recall Jarrod Dyson, Send Jason Bourgeois To AAA

The Kansas City Royals continue to try to mix and match the right outfielders on the bench and in the line-up with Lorenzo Cain continuing to sit due to injury. Bob Dutton has the latest moves by the team as they start a new series with the Minnesota Twins.

As the team faces their rivals, they'll still be missing Greg Holland in the bullpen and Cain in center field. Cain in particular was re-injured during his rehab when he had a problem with a hip flexor. He was originally trying to come back from a groin injury.

In the bigger picture, the Royals are trying to extend a winning streak that came on the heels of a news-making 12 game losing streak. They've now won two in a row and another win would continue to hearten the hopes of fans after an early season disaster.
