The Kansas City Royals' bullpen had been hurting. After being overworked in the series against the Cleveland Indians, Everett Teaford's short outing last night extended the team's pitching staff to its tipping point. Ned Yost said before today's second game against the Minnesota Twins that he was hoping for help from Mother Nature and apparently his prayers worked.

Brucen Chen was slated to take on Jason Marquis in a match-up of veteran pitchers. Now the Royals have to hope that the day off doesn't hurt the team's newfound positive momentum. For the Twins, they've lost six in a row, so the day off could serve them well.
The series against the Twins continues tomorrow afternoon at 1:10pm ET.
