The Kansas City Royals saw their winning streak snapped on Sunday with a 7-4 loss to the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.
The Twins jumped out to an early lead against a mostly ineffective Bruce Chen. Minnesota struck for four four runs in the first inning behind RBI singles from Joe Mauer and Danny Valencia and a two RBI double from Josh Willingham. Mike Moustakas got the Royals on the board in the second with a solo homer but the Twins answered back with two more against Chen in the third.
Jason Marquis picks up his second win of the season for the Twins allowing three runs and six hits over six innings of work. Chen takes the loss after allowing six hits and six runs in just 2.2 innings of work.
Billy Butler recorded three hits for the Royals and Moustakas went 2 for 3 with homer and two RBIs. Willingham and Valencia finished with three hits and had two RBIs each.
