For local golfers, Sawgrass is not being so kind. For Ian Poulter, it's a dream in the making. The 36-year-old is currently in the lead on Thursday in the opening round of the 2012 Players Championship. Of course, there's still three full rounds to go.
Poulter only has one PGA tour win to his credit, back in February of 2010 with the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. He's finished fairly well at various moments in the major tournaments, including a second place at the British Open in 2008 and a 12th place finish at The Masters this year. But Poulter has never won something as big as TPC.
Chez Reavie finished even today and is tied for 60th place. Gary Woodland had a harsh first round and sits at five-over after Thursday's action. He's currently in 131st.
