For a while it looked as though Martin Laird had control of the second round of the Players Championship on Friday, He was still in the lead after a birdie on the 16th hole put him at 5-under for the day. Then he double-bogeyed 17 and opened up the floodgates for those who were trailing him.
Now Zach Johnson is in the lead by one stroke with an 8-under par score, having shot six strokes under par for the day. Brian Davis and Ian Poulter are on Johnson's heels at 7-under, but Poulter hasn't even started second round action while Davis is on the final hole.
Laird is now tied for fourth with Jonathan Byrd, Adam Scott, and Charlie Wi, who all have scores of six-under par.
