The first round of the 2012 Championships at Wimbledon continued on Tuesday, with not quite as many surprises as on Monday.
No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal advanced by defeating Thomaz Bellucci, 7-6, 6-2, 6-3. He will make it to the second round, as will Serena Williams, who dispatched Barbora Zahlahova in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
Mardy Fish advanced by defeating Ruben Ramirez in three sets, 7-6, 7-5, 7-6. Fish hopes to keep hope alive of a rare American win at Wimbledon, although of course his road will get exponentially tougher in each consecutive round. Also still in the mix is Andy Roddick, who is going up against Jamie Baker in the first round on Tuesday. Also still to play is No. 4 seed Andy Murray, who hopes to join the other three top men's seeds, each of whom has already advanced.
