London Olympics Medal Count: China, United States Lead All Countries

The United States is trailing China in the second day of competition in London during the 2012 Summer Olympics, a sign of the power of both countries. It's likely a pairing at the top that will remain throughout the rest of the festivities until the closing ceremonies. For the official medal count, the British are not currently in the top five, but they will have several more opportunities forthcoming as the games go on.

Interestingly enough Kazakhstan is in seventh place in the medal count through two days with two gold medals, a strong showing for a smaller country. The host UK only has two medals so far, one silver and one bronze.

Here's the official count for the top five countries with gold, silver, bronze and total medals combined:

1
China 6 4 2
12
2
United States 3 5 3
11

Italy 2 3 2

Korea 2 1 2

France 2 1 1
