U.S. Women's Gymnastics Team Takes Home First Gold Medal In 20 Years

The United States women's gymnastics team has finally accomplished what they had tried to do in the last several Summer Olympic games: win the gold medal. While the individual competitions still are to be played out, the team competitions are now over and the U.S. has taken gold for the first time in 20 years.

The American succeeded from the outset by establishing dominance on the vault. Every American put in a tremendous score and the gold medal became theirs to lose at that point. The last time the Americans won the gold medal was the moment that Kerri Strug became famous as a household name for her vault with an injury. It's likely that these women achieve that level of fame as well.
