The United States of America took home another gold medal in swimming on Wednesday, as the women's team won the 4 x 200m freestyle relay, with a time of 7:42:92.
The gold medal team was comprised of Missy Franklin, Dana Vollmer, Allison Schmitt and local product Shannon Vreeland. Vreeland finished her 200m with a time of 1:56.85. Schmitt was the team's best performer, with a time of 1:54.09. Franklin finished with a time of 1:55.96, while Vollmer finished with a time of 1:56.02.
Schmitt, who had the best time, was the last to swim, and effectively won the gold medal for the United States with her time of 1:54.09.
Australia's team finished with a time of 7:44.41, nearly a second and a half off the pace set by the American team. Still, Australia's effort was good enough to capture the silver medal.
France's team earned the bronze medal, despite finishing a distant third with a time of 7:47.49, over four and a half seconds behind the Americans.
