Chiefs Training Camp: Devon Wylie Offers Impact Returner

Kansas City Chiefs rookie Devon Wylie earned the moniker "Wiggles" for a reason. At Fresno State, the 5-foot-9, 187-pound receiver had a knack for snaking his way through defenders. Early returns from the Chiefs preseason opener and training camp suggest that Wylie could be poised to cement that nickname in the NFL, giving his team a much-needed threat in the return game.

Wylie gave fans and his coaches a taste of what he can do in last week's game against the Cardinals. He was on his way to a home run punt return when an Arizona defender dragged him down by the facemask after 32 yards.

The Chiefs' official website raved about the possibilities for Wylie as well as the team's need for something special on returns:

The Chiefs have lacked that extra element for some time. McMahon inherited a unit that was 8th in the NFL last season in punt return yards, but hasn't notched a touchdown since Dexter McCluster's season-opening scamper against the Chargers in 2010. And only the Indianapolis Colts - the leagues' worst team last year - averaged worse starting field position than the Chiefs in 2011.

Wylie is behind McCluster for the team's slot receiver. His ability as a return man looks like his best route to the 53-man roster.
