Peyton Hillis Believes Chiefs Are Onto Something Great In Preseason

In the Kansas City Chiefs first game of the preseason, the team dominated the Arizona Cardinals in all aspects of the game and ended up with a 27-17 victory that wasn't as close as it sounds. The Chiefs first team offense scored at will and the points continued with the second and third units coming on.

In addition, the defense put up seven sacks and kept the Cardinals from ever getting comfortable at Arrowhead. Even though it was the second game for the Cardinals, it was still the sort of sputtering performance you'd expect from a team's first outing.

Running back Peyton Hillis believes it's a mark of a Chiefs team ready to make some noise toward the postseason in 2012.

"I think up to this point it has been pretty good," said Hillis from training camp on Thursday. "You know we came off the preseason game and I thought we kind of connected on all cylinders. Coming out with the first group, the first couple of drives and putting the ball in the end zone.

"But we have a long way to go from here, and the guys are willing to work. We have a lot of great guys on the team and I just hope that we can put it together and push through to the regular season."

When asked about whether or not he'd ever seen a preseason team performance like the Chiefs had, Hillis had an exciting answer. Yet he also realized that the preseason can't be an accurate measure for what is to come.

"Just to tell the truth, I haven't. I really haven't [seen that type of performance]," he said. "But then again, like I said, we have a lot of great talent on this team, and it's all about working together and clicking on all cylinders. If we can do that then I think we can win some ball games, but it takes a long time, it takes conditioning, it takes a lot of hard work mentally in the film room.

"We are going to do that and get our jobs done, and hopefully it will all turn out good for us."
