Nicholls State Vs. Tulsa 2012: Golden Hurricane Win Big, 66-16

Stay connected for news and updates

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane took care of business Saturday evening against the Nicholls State Colonels, dominating the Colonels by a score of 66-16 at Chapman Stadium.

The Colonels were never a threat to the Golden Hurricane, as Tulsa was able to bury the Colonels 28-6 after the first quarter and further extended their lead 42-9 before the start of the second half. Tulsa was able to rattle off six touchdowns in the first half and three more in the second half.

The game quickly got away from the Colonels, allowing Tulsa to use their reserves at key positions to avoid potential injuries to their starters. Starting quarterback Cody Green threw for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns before taking a seat to allow Kalen Henderson to close out the game.

While the quarterback play was strong, it was Tulsa's running game that allowed the Golden Hurricane to run through Nicholls State. As a team, Tulsa rushed for 333 yards on 45 carries for seven touchdowns. Running back Ja'Terian Douglas took two of his five carries for touchdowns and accumulated 163 yards in those five carries.

Now improved to 2-1 on the season, Tulsa will host the Fresno State Bulldogs next Saturday, Sept. 22.
