The Mountain West Conference has a chance to put on one of the most exciting offensive matchups in this young college football season when Fresno State visits Tulsa on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs are coming off a 69-14 shellacking of Colorado; the Golden Hurricane has outscored Tulane and Nicholls State 111-26 in its first two wins of 2012.
Both teams are 2-1 in nonconference play. Fresno also beat Weber State and lost to Oregon 42-25. Tulsa lost to Iowa State in Ames in its opener.
The Golden Hurricane is averaging 285.7 yards a game on the ground. They hope to take advantage of a Bulldogs defense that gave up 366 rushing yards to Oregon.
The Bulldogs' Phillip Thomas had three interceptions, including two pick-sixes, in the win against Colorado last Saturday, and was named the Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week for his efforts. Thomas and his mates in the defensive backfield need to stop Tulsa's tall receiving corps, who include Keyarris Garrett (6'4), Thomas Roberson (6'3) and Jordan James (6'2).
Game Time: 8 p.m. ET
