The Oklahoma State Cowboys came close to an upset against the Texas Longhorns on Saturday night, but fell just short in a 41-36 Cowboys loss.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys very nearly upset the visiting Texas Longhorns on Saturday night in Stillwater, but a late David Ash touchdown drive proved to be the game winner in a 41-36 Oklahoma State defeat.

Yes, the Cowboys allowed David Ash and Texas to score in the game's final moments, but the folks over at SB Nation's Oklahoma State blog Cowboys Ride For Free would like to point out there were many ways Oklahoma State lost Saturday's game:

Here's what cost OSU the game...

  • Two busted coverages in the first half;
  • 1 TO deep in own territory (combined with 1 of the busted coverages above);
  • A 100 yd KO return for a TD;
  • and a rash of missed tackles in the 2nd half;

Oklahoma State has a bye next Saturday, and will next take the field in Lawrence, Kan. on Oct. 13 against the Kansas Jayhawks. The kickoff time from Memorial Stadium has yet to be determined.
