Fantasy Football Review: Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki

NFL Week 5: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts

Prediction: 40 yards receiving, 1 TD

Actual: 50 yards receiving, 0 TD

I was pretty close on this one with the yards but missed the touchdown. Moeaki has been pretty consistent this year with 30-50 yards and a touchdown every other game. He's been a surprise rookie and someone worth playing because of his early touchdown looks.

Fantasy Football Review: Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe

NFL Week 5: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts

Prediction: 50 yards, 0 TD

Actual: 33 yards receiving, 0 TD

It'll be the one Dwayne Bowe dropped in the end zone people remember. That would have given him a solid fantasy football day. Bowe has been inconsistent with the Chiefs. He's hit or miss on a big game.

Fantasy Football Review: Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster

NFL Week 5: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts

Prediction: 55 receiving yards, 20 rushing yards, 0 TD

Actual: 15 receiving yards, 3 rushing yards, 0 TD

Dexter McCluster is very hit or miss for fantasy football players. I thought he would have a bigger day because he was so successful against the 49ers with 69 yards receiving and a touchdown. The Chiefs should try to use him as much as they can.

For now you can't expect much out of McCluster moving forward until he gets into a regular role on the offense.

Fantasy Football Review: Chiefs RB Thomas Jones

NFL Week 5: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts

Prediction: 50 yards rushing, 0 TD

Actual: 19 yards rushing, 0 TD

Tough game for Thomas Jones. The Chiefs were clearly focusing on Jamaal Charles against Indy's quick defense and Jones couldn't get much of anything done.

Fantasy Football Review: Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles

NFL Week 5: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts

Prediction: 120 yards rushing, 30 yards receiving, 1 TD

Actual: 87 yards rushing, 14 yards receiving, 0 TD

No touchdowns from Jamaal Charles again but he continues to put up excellent yards per carry numbers. That 5.4 yard average against the Colts is actually more than a yard below his season average. He's having an excellent season.

Fantasy Football Review: Chiefs QB Matt Cassel

NFL Week 5: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts

Prediction: 210 passing yards, 1 TD

Actual: 156 passing yards, 0 TD

Chiefs QB Matt Cassel didn't have the passing numbers this week but also didn't turn the ball over. But when you're talking about a fantasy football quarterback not turning it over as a positive, that's not a good thing.

Cassel has the Chiefs 3-1 but moving forward the Chiefs seem content to run the football more than pass it.

Dexter McCluster's Fantasy Football Impact Still Inconsistent

In Week 3, Kansas City Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster had 69 receiving yards including a 31-yard touchdown catch and run

That made us think that McCluster would enter a bigger role with the Chiefs.

He had one carry for three yards and two catches for 15 yards against the Indianapolis Colts.

Far from the 69-yard and one touchdown performance last week.

McCluster is given shorter routes on the Chiefs offense and they hope to get blockers in front of him to get him into open space. The goal is to get him into space where he can utilize his speed. Unfortunately that doesn't always happen against a quick defense like Indianapolis.

McCluster will be inconsistent moving forward. The Chiefs have two running backs to keep happy and a budding star at tight end so they aren't short of people to give the ball to.

Fantasy Football Week 5 Picks: Tony Moeaki, Chiefs TE

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts

The no-name third round tight end is now seeing his name brought up in fantasy football circles around the league. Moeaki is leading the Chiefs receiving and has a nice connection with Matt Cassel.

He's becoming a safety net of sorts for Moeaki and that's good for both him and Cassel.

Moeaki is clearly a red zone target so keeping that in mind, I'm going to predict six from him.

Prediction: 40 yards receiving, 1 TD

Fantasy Football Week 5 Picks: Dwayne Bowe, Chiefs WR

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts

Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe will have an OK against the Colts. I predict that Bowe will see a decent amount of looks because the Chiefs won't be going deep a whole lot, trying to control the clock. Bowe is a possession receiver and I think he'll be valuable this game.

The Chiefs are going to try to run the ball and work the clock. On 3rd and 5s, Bowe will come in handy. I think it'll be one of those games where he's much more valuable in reality vs. fantasy football.

Prediction: 50 yards, 0 TD

Fantasy Football Week 5 Picks: Dexter McCluster, Chiefs WR

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts

Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster finally got involved in the offense in Week 3 after being nearly non-existent in Week 1 and Week 2 (on offense at least).

He lined up at receiver and caught shorter Matt Cassel passes and tried to see if he could turn them into something more. I think that's what the Chiefs will do again. It gets a potential big play out of McCluster and adds some confidence to Cassel.

Particularly on this surface where McCluster will be a little faster, I see the Chiefs trying to get him involved.

Prediction: 55 receiving yards, 20 rushing yards, 0 TD

Fantasy Football Week 5 Picks: Thomas Jones, Chiefs RB

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts

Chiefs RB Thomas Jones has been getting the majority of the carries in Kansas City to this point but I see that changing against the Colts.

Playing in that dome, on that turf...it doesn't make sense to run Jones more there. He has a physical brand of football that relies on picking up 4-5 yards at a time.

Charles is more suited for a game like this.

Prediction: 50 yards rushing, 0 TD

Continue

Fantasy Football Week 5 Picks: Jamaal Charles, Chiefs RB

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts

Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles isn't quite the feature back in Kansas City -- that's Thomas Jones -- but he is having a solid season himself.

Look for Charles to have an excellent day against the 29th ranked Colts rush defense.

Charles will be playing in that dome which will only make him faster. The Colts are built on speed but not a lot of them have Jamaal Charles-like speed.

Prediction: 120 yards rushing, 30 yards receiving, 1 TD

Fantasy Football Week 5 Picks: Matt Cassel, Chiefs QB

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts.

There are two different Matt Cassel's that have payed for the Chiefs this year.

The one that showed up in Week 1 and Week 2 putting up below average (at best) days. Then there's the one that put up 250 yards and three scores in Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers.

On Sunday against Indy, look for someone closer to the latter.

The Colts rush defense isn't great but the Chiefs are hoping to run to set up the pass. Plus, at strong safety Cassel may see former Chief DaJuan Morgan back there.

Prediction: 210 passing yards, 1 TD
