NFL Mock Draft 2012: Chiefs Connected To Iowa Tackle Riley Reiff

The Kansas City Chiefs have two needs that most analysts discussing the upcoming NFL Draft keep pointing to -- a high ceiling quarterback prospect and an offensive tackle. If one isn't available, in other words, then the team will pick the other. That's the case in the latest 2012 NFL Mock Draft from Pick 256 when they have the Chiefs selecting Iowa offensive tackle Riley Reiff with the first round choice in April's draft.

The Chiefs really need a QB but there isn’t one worth taking at this point. If Landry Jones comes out, he could be a consideration here. The Chiefs also have some holes in their front 7 which need to be addressed but they have to find a solution at OT. 10th overall might be too high for a RT to replace the below-average Barry Richardson, but for a team that loves to run the ball a high-quality OL would go a long way.

The Iowa connection certainly makes sense seeing as the Chiefs already have Tony Moeaki and Ricky Stanzi on the roster from that offensive unit. Scott Pioli trusts Kirk Ferentz quite well and Iowa offensive linemen have done well in the NFL -- from Bryan Bulaga with the Packers to other names like Eric Steinbach, Robert Gallery, Marshal Yanda or Casey Wiegmann.
