NFL Mock Draft 2012: David DeCastro Presents Interesting Choice For Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs need help along the offensive line, and many have them looking at offensive tackle for possible help in mock drafts for next April's 2012 NFL Draft. Names like Stanford's Jonathan Martin or Iowa's Riley Reiff are often linked to the Chiefs' first round draft pick, but another lineman might warrant a selection about the time that KC would choose. Stanford's David DeCastro is among the best interior linemen and comparisons to Maurkice Pouncey might be enough to put him alongside the tackles in the draft.

Wes Bunting from the National Football Post praises his work and writes, "The best offensive line prospect I’ve evaluated since Maurkice Pouncey in 2010. He showcases the ability to get a push in-line and is a dominant move player as well. He’s fluid/natural in pass protection and with a little more power in his base he’s got the skill set to become on of the leagues best guards early in his NFL career."

The Chiefs have already invested in the interior of the line with Jon Asamoah and Rodney Hudson in recent drafts. Still Hudson could play center for Casey Wiegmann, since the veteran center even wrestled with coming back this year versus retiring. That leaves DeCastro as a possible replacement for Ryan Lilja. It's hard to tell which direction the Chiefs will go, but DeCastro could end up as one of the "best value on the draft board" scenarios where a team takes a player despite other needs.
