It's a move that dumfounds for sure. The San Diego Chargers signed former Chiefs/Ravens offensive tackle three days and now it's been announced that he's their starting left tackle this weekend. If you thought the Chiefs were woefully thin along the line, apparently the Chargers have the ultimate trump card.
The Ravens originally let Gaither go because health concerns and back problems kept him from being a productive member along the line anymore. From there, he went to Oakland only to reportedly fail a physical. The Chiefs picked him up from there, but he rode the pine behind big-time names like Steve Maneri. One false start play coming in cold in last Sunday's loss to the Steelers led to his dismissal and subsequent pick-up for San Diego. Now, he's taking Marcus McNeill's place in the line-up.
Maybe San Diego waved some magic wand, but it's like a sign that the Chargers offensive line is hurting worse than most teams. This move is seriously problematic on several levels.
