While the Chiefs lost a close defensive battle to the Ravens on Sunday, linebacker Justin Houston and safety Abe Elam were praised for their efforts.
The Kansas City Chiefs contained an explosive Baltimore Ravens offense in Week 5 on Sunday, and though they lost the contest, 9-6, two of their defenders were recognized for their efforts.
From an article by Khaled Elsayed titled, "Team of the Week, Week 5" on the Web site Pro Football Focus, both Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston and safety Abram Elam were added to the roster of players whose, according to Elsayed in the article, "performances deserved more attention than they got."
Houston recorded two sacks, four total tackles and, according to the article, six hurries of Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco on Sunday, as he was paired with Baltimore's Paul Kruger in the outside linebackers category.
Elam, on the other hand, recorded one tackle and one pass defensed in Week 5, but also he combined with Jamarca Sanford of the Minnesota Vikings -- Elsayed's other safety selection this week -- to allow four total receiving yards on three passes thrown into their combined areas of coverage on the field, according to the article.
Kansas City (1-4) will travel to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers (1-3) in Week 6 on Sunday.
