Romeo Crennel told reporters during his Monday press conference that Week 5 could be the season premiere of Kendrick Lewis.

After four games without starting safety Kendrick Lewis, Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel said during his Monday press conference that the team's Week 5 game against the Baltimore Ravens could be the game that features the return of Lewis to the lineup.

"It's a possibility. The big thing with Kendrick is, I need to see Kendrick in contact," Crennel said. "When we have the padded practice, giving him some contact during the padded practice, I think will be key to find out if he's ready or not."

Lewis, a 2010 fifth-round pick of the Chiefs, suffered a shoulder injury during the second preseason game of the year when he attempted to tackle Rams wide receiver Brian Quick. Lewis suffered an injury to the same shoulder during Week 17 of the 2011 season and required offseason surgery to correct the problem.

In 16 starts for the Chiefs in 2012, Lewis tallied three interceptions, 10 passes defended and 60 tackles. He has been replaced in the starting lineup by Abram Elam, who has recorded 18 tackles and one pass defended while playing alongside Eric Berry.
