The Kansas City Chiefs have claimed a 7-0 lead against the Pittsburgh Steelers after the first quarter on Monday night in Pittsburgh.

The Chiefs struck on their second possession of the game. A quick four-play scoring drive was keyed by a big pass, when Matt Cassel hit tight end Tony Moeaki down the right sideline. After Moeaki broke a tackle, he rumbled for extra yardage and a 38-yard gain. Two plays later, Jamaal Charles bounced off defenders for a 12-yard touchdown run and the 7-0 lead.

The drive took just 1:46 off the clock and marked the first time all season the Chiefs have held a lead during regulation play. Kansas City's only other "lead" came on its overtime-winning field goal against the New Orleans Saints.

Infamously the team with the most turnover giveaways in the league, Kansas City reversed the trend and ended the quarter after recovering a Steelers fumble deep in Pittsburgh territory. The Chiefs face a third down from Pittsburgh's 4-yard line when the second quarter begins.
