Branden Albert injury update: Chiefs OL remains doubtful vs. Broncos

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

The Chiefs' starting left tackle continues to suffer from a back injury and did not practice this week.

Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Branden Albert did not practice this week, and remains doubtful for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. Albert, a fifth-year veteran out of Virginia, has been dealing with a back injury throughout November. The injury was aggravated last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, and Allen was held out of this week's preparation for the Broncos.

The injury comes at a bad time for the Chiefs' offensive line. Not only is Albert doubtful, but center Ryan Lilja is doubtful after missing this week's practice with a knee injury, and guard Jon Asamoah is questionable after suffering a thumb injury. Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel has said Asamoah can play if he is comfortable with the cast placed on his hand.

If Albert is unable to play, the Chiefs will likely turn to rookie tackle Donald Stephenson. The third-round pick out of Oklahoma has appeared in all ten games for Kansas City this season, and has a pair of starts under his belt.
