Chiefs place Allen Bailey on Injured Reserve, sign linebacker Leon Williams

Jamie Squire

The Chiefs added another young lineman to IR with the move on Thursday.

The Kansas City Chiefs defensive line lost another young body this season with the news that Allen Bailey was being placed on Injured Reserve in Week 14. This means that the former third round choice will be out for the rest of the 2012 season. In his place, the team has signed linebacker Leon Williams to the team.

The team has placed several players on IR this season including starting center Rodney Hudson, tight end Kevin Boss, defensive end Glenn Dorsey and cornerback Jacques Reeves. Bailey joins Dorsey on the list which further thins a front seven that was already young and inexperienced to begin with. Bailey only had 3 total tackles this season in a disappointing sophomore year.

As for Williams, he is a familiar face for Romeo Crennel given his time with the Cleveland Browns from 2006-08. The 6'3 linebacker also spent the 2010 season with the Dallas Cowboys. If he sounds familiar, it's because he spent training camp with the Chiefs this summer before being cut.

Surprisingly Amon Gordon still remains a free agent familiar with Crennel's defense.
