Stanford Routt: 'I Don't See Why We Can't Win'

Stay connected for news and updates

After agreeing to terms with the Kansas City Chiefs, CB Stanford Routt, who played the first seven years of his career with the Oakland Raiders, is optimistic about his new team's chances:

"My first stop in the NFL was great. I don't like to look backwards. I think that's an old chapter. It's time to turn the page. I trust the Kansas City Chiefs to lead us in the right direction. It helps that I'll be playing in the AFC West going on eight years now, so I think that will be a plus. I've always had a lot of respect for Romeo Crennel with his defensive expertise, so the sky is the limit for us. When you look at that, and combine it with the pieces they have on offense, I don't see why we can't win."

Routt said he talked to seven other NFL teams -- Cincinnati, Buffalo, Oakland, Dallas, Houston, New Orleans and Tennessee -- but thought Kansas City was the best fit for him.
