NFL Combine Results 2012: Robert Griffin III Runs Unofficial 4.38 40-Yard Dash

Everyone knows that Robert Griffin III has a unique set of tools, from his athleticism to his strong arm to his uncanny ability to make plays. It’s a skill set that brought the Baylor Bears football program to the mainstream this last season and it’s one that will likely earn him “Highest Player To Be Drafted After Andrew Luck” in the 2012 NFL Draft. But he might even have the Indianapolis Colts thinking twice after his results at the NFL Combine.

The unofficial word is that Griffin ran a 4.38 40-yard time at the NFL Combine this morning as quarterbacks begin to work out on another long day at Lucas Oil Stadium. That’s a level on par with some of the fastest to play the position. Michael Vick type of playmakers are rare indeed, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see the cost for moving into the St. Louis Rams drafting spot going skyhigh at this point. The Chiefs, who were checking in on Griffin yesterday, might have just found the price too high for their tastes.

Whether Griffin’s skills translate as well as we all hope remains to be seen, but for a draft short on great quarterback options, at the very least you have to admit that the two main ones available really do captivate.
