Paul Soliai Returns To Miami Dolphins On 2-Year Contract

The Miami Dolphins have re-signed a key player on their defensive front, and it’s a move that leaves several others disappointed. The Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos were two of the many teams interested in Paul Soliai, the best defensive tackle on the open market this offseason, especially for 3-4 teams. However, the Dolphins were able to lure him back after being unable to find common ground on a long-term deal during the franchise tag period.

Soliai was the team’s franchise player last season, but Jason La Canfora reports the team agreed on a two-year deal to keep him in south Florida. The Chiefs were linked to him simply because of their need along the defensive interior. Kelly Gregg is likely gone if not retiring and the Chiefs have no other dedicated tackles for the position. Jerrell Powe and Anthony Toribio are developmental prospects at this point.

Scott Pioli might find his man in the draft at this point with the possibility of Memphis DT Dontari Poe in first round.
