NFL Mock Draft 2012: David DeCastro Heads To Chiefs At No. 11

Stay connected for news and updates

The Kansas City Chiefs wanted to address the offensive line coming into the 2012 offseason and so far it's been mission accomplished for Scott Pioli and company. The team convinced Eric Winston to become the Chiefs' next right tackle, and that alone should help in tremendous ways on the right side. But the latest mock draft from Drafttek has the Chiefs also bolstering the guard position with the best overall prospect available for that spot: David DeCastro.

The Chiefs select at No. 11 in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft, and DeCastro could be available around that time. Given the history of guards in the first round, he will be for sure, but DeCastro is enjoying a nice buzz that might surprise some if someone from the top ten is interested enough. The Drafttek report reads:

With Eric Winston signing with the Chiefs, DeCastro makes a ton of sense here. He is considered the best Guard prospect since Steve Hutchinson. He will lock down an offensive line spot for ten plus years, more than likely at a multiple Pro Bowl level. An offensive line of Albert, DeCastro, Hudson, Asamoah and Winston would serve notice that the Chiefs are looking to run the ball first. Newly signed RB Peyton Hillis and Jamaal Charles would be estatic.

The Chiefs would likely replace Ryan Lilja along the line as listed above, giving the team some nice depth in case of injury.
